Accessibility Information

The Ballarat Wildlife Park in Ballarat East, situated at the junction of Fussell and York Streets, is dedicated to ensuring accessibility. Accessible pathways are available throughout most areas, and all park restrooms are designed for disabled access. Visitors should be aware that wildlife behavior, especially during feeding times, may present challenges for some children and are advised to be considerate of the environment and its inhabitants.

The park features designated disabled parking spaces on the left side of the main entrance, with a gravel car park leading to Gate 1 through a sealed path accessible via the gift shop. Upon exiting the gift shop, visitors can proceed straight ahead to the reptile house or take the left path to explore animal enclosures. The initial path gently slopes towards the Koala observation area, with boardwalks offering excellent viewing and photo opportunities of the Koalas. A steeper pathway beyond the Koala area is best accessed via the lower ramp from the Koala observation section.

All exhibits ensure easy viewing, either over low walls or through transparent fencing. The Little Penguin displays feature clear glass panels at both the primary and upper viewing areas.

The reptile house is divided into two main areas. The lower path leads to the Alligator feeding display and includes a designated area for wheelchair access. Access to the main reptile house, via the upper path, provides glass-fronted displays easily viewable by children and individuals in wheelchairs. Beyond this area, an upper-level viewing spot for Alligators offers ample space for wheelchair users, along with a small cafe on this level.

The park's sole accessible toilet, located behind the cafe outside the main building, is equipped with left-hand transfer facilities, a baby changing table, and a lever mixer tap.

Adjacent to the main building is the cafe, accessible via a wooden ramp, offering various seating choices. Notably, service dogs are restricted in certain areas due to free-roaming kangaroos, alpacas, and safety concerns, particularly in the tiger exhibit.

The Ballarat Wildlife Park places a strong emphasis on accessibility and inclusion for all visitors, taking necessary precautions to ensure the safety of both guests and park animals.
