The Story behind Bundy Bowl & Leisure Centre
Bundy Bowl & Leisure Centre is a testament to the spirit of local business, innovation and community connection. What started life as a small 12-lane bowling centre in 1978 has grown into Bundaberg’s premier family entertainment venue.
Peter McElligott started as a Junior Pin Chaser fresh out of Bundaberg State High School. Peter’s dedication and skill saw him quickly promoted to Senior Head Technician and then to Centre Manager at the tender age of 26. In 1988, Peter and his wife Jeanette partnered with Noel and Joan Ambler to purchase the business, and in 1996 the centre relocated to its current location. With the move, it was renamed Bundy Bowl & Leisure Centre, reflecting its status as one of Australia’s first family entertainment centres.
Over the years, Bundy Bowl & Leisure has grown into a bustling hub of activity, with a reputation stretching throughout Australia. The facility has hosted training for bowling centre proprietors and managers from across the country, cementing its status as an industry leader. From its humble beginnings to becoming a multifaceted entertainment centre, Bundy Bowl & Leisure has become a proud local icon dedicated to delivering fun and making memories for all ages.
