Sitting logs surrounding the firepit create a rustic feel, but many guests bring their own chairs, nibbles and drinks for extra comfort and enjoyment. The large, enclosed Camp Kitchen is a fully equipped communal space for cooking, dining and unwinding with fellow guests – ideal no matter what the weather or time of year. It’s also where Saturday pancake breakfasts are hosted weekly – a great way to meet other guests while making a small contribution to a local community group or charity with your gold coin donation.

Families will love the dedicated Play Zone, which features a playground, jumping pillow, swimming pool and recreation room all in one central location. The playground is set on soft-fall mulch, with sand surrounding the jumping pillow for extra safety. It goes without saying that the park has you covered for everyday essentials, including a coin-operated laundry with washing machines, dryers, irons and ironing boards, plus a convenient outdoor washing line, two amenities blocks, including one with an accessible bathroom, and three barbecue areas. 

Just outside the boundaries of the Park, meanwhile, lies the Waikerie Riverfront Promenade, giving Echo Holiday Parks – Waikerie guests direct access to the mighty Murray River. The grassy riverbanks provide a tranquil space to kick back and relax, whether you prefer basking in the sun, lingering over a peaceful picnic or simply listening to the sound of the river as it flows gently past. Large gum trees and pergola-covered barbecue areas offer shady spots to unwind, while waterfowl and local walkers add to the charm of riverside life.

Accommodation with Accessibility in Mind

At Echo Holiday Parks – Waikerie, you can choose from a range of comfortable cabins and powered sites, perfect for short to mid-term stays. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing retreat or a convenient base to explore the region, the park accommodations are designed for comfort with all kinds of travellers in mind. There are over 30 cabins to choose from, including large family cabins with multiple bedrooms, pet-friendly cabins, and budget-friendly ensuite cabins. There are also over 60 powered sites for camping or caravans, surfaced with either grass or compacted gravel and mats. RVs can be reversed in or guests can book a drive-thru site and simply unhitch!

The park’s newly built Access Cabins have been thoughtfully designed to ensure a comfortable stay for guests with limited mobility and wheelchair users. Fully building-code compliant, these cabins feature spacious layouts, step-free entry and mobility-friendly amenities.

Guests can park directly beside the Access Cabins in a designated accessible parking space and enter via a ramp leading to a level deck and sliding front door. An open-plan living area welcomes you, with a cosy lounge, armchairs and a 65-inch flat-screen TV. A round dining table sits at the heart of the space, supported by a central pedestal – ideal for wheelchair users – making this a functional and inviting area for meals and socialising.

The kitchen and two bedrooms are conveniently located along a hallway toward the back of the cabin. Each bedroom features a queen-size bed, built-in robes and bedside tables with lamps, accommodating up to four guests. The larger bedroom is designed with extra space for wheelchair manoeuvrability. While the spacious bathroom includes a roll-in shower with seating and handrails, a pedestal sink and a toilet with additional handrails.

The contemporary design of the Park’s Access Cabins guarantees a welcoming environment while allowing flexibility – furniture can be moved around if additional space is needed for mobility aids. The deck and open living area overlook a communal grassed space, featuring barbecues, the Camp Kitchen and an amenities block with an accessible bathroom. These communal areas provide a great opportunity to say “hello” and connect with fellow travellers, exchange stories and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the park.

Accessibility

Echo Holiday Parks – Waikerie is committed to providing a welcoming and comfortable stay for all guests. The park continues to improve accessibility, offering several accessible features and accommodations to enhance the experience for guests with access needs. For the convenience and peace of mind of all visitors, but particularly useful for guests that benefit from audio information, all bookings are accompanied by a website-based Digital Compendium before arrival, providing information they can read on their own devices to help plan their stay.

The park is not easily accessible by public transport, so taxi and rideshare are the only options for those who are not self-driving. Designated accessible parking is available next to the Access Cabins for convenience.

The park features bitumen roads, offering most guests wheelchair-friendly accessibility. In some spots, though, the absence of pathways and the height of kerbs may limit ease of access for certain wheelchair models and wheeled mobility aids. Guests who have specific accessibility needs are encouraged to call the park team ahead of their stay to ensure their needs can be met.

The Park’s Access Cabins are specifically designed for guests in wheelchairs or using mobility aids, featuring wide doorways, step-free entry, and an accessible bathroom with a roll-in shower, shower seat and grab rails. Accessible bathrooms are also available in Amenity Block 2, located across from the Camp Kitchen.

It’s important that wheelchair users know that access to the laundry is via a small set of steps, and that the barbecue spaces are surrounded by grass. Although the recreation room has a ramped entrance and a sliding door, entry is not completely level: there is a small transitional bump on entry and exit. There is no ramped entry or hoist to assist guests with limited mobility to use the pool. 

Accredited guide dogs and service animals are welcome at Echo Holiday Parks and there are lots of grassy areas for toileting, with doggy bag dispensers provided throughout the park.

The park’s rural setting is ideal for guests with sensory sensitivities who might sometimes need peace and quiet. Travellers are welcome to contact the park for advice about choosing the most comfortable space for their stay for their particular needs.
