Accessibility Information
Please let the friendly Bookings Officer know of any special requirements for your visit, such as wheelchair access, hearing or vision loss. All of our programs are adapted to best fit the needs of the group to ensure every person has the same opportunities for an unforgettable and memorable experience.
The castle provides designated disabled parking bays near the main entrance. While the main entry involves steps, an alternative, level access point through double gates on the left side of the car park is available upon request or prior arrangement.
The grounds feature smooth, paved stone surfaces, accommodating wheelchair users and visitors with mobility devices. Most buildings and exhibits offer wide doorways and ample internal maneuvering space, with the exception being the entrance to the story of Kryal Castle exhibit, which has a small step onto the veranda.
The Abbey Tavern, serving as the main function room, offers level entry and spacious internal layout, with wheelchair access to the dance floor.
Accessible viewing around the Tournament Area is available, with the lower level of the grandstand being accessible from a specific side entrance. Ramped access to the Ale House, Village shop, and some workshops is provided from outside certain areas.
Accommodation options include group-style and suites. Group accommodations feature communal bathroom facilities with accessible amenities, while suites lack accessible bathrooms but offer wider entry doors and ample room inside. The group accommodation is designed for school groups or families, featuring a twin room with accessible entry.
However, multi-level structures such as the Knights Tower, Throne Room, Wizards Workroom, and Dungeons are only accessible on the ground floor, with workshops conducted on this level.
Please note that the suites have ample space around the bed and can accommodate a hoist underneath, but access to these suites is through steep ramps at each end. Additionally, a portable shower chair is available for use.
The Maze is not wheelchair accessible due to its narrow pathways and corners.
