Steel Taipan Audio Guide

Accessibility

At Dreamworld, we are dedicated to making our park as accessible and inclusive as possible, ensuring that every guest, regardless of their mobility, sensory or medical needs, can enjoy a fun and memorable visit. With a wide range of accessibility features, support services and inclusive experiences, we strive to accommodate all visitors while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.

Located on the Gold Coast, Dreamworld is easy to reach by car, bus, tram or train. No matter how you’re travelling, there’s a convenient way to get here. There are designated accessible parking bays conveniently located right in front of the main entrance, ensuring easy access to the park. For more information on transportation options, visit our How to Get Here page at www.dreamworld.com.au/park-information/how-to-get-here. Accessible parking is available directly in front of the park entrance, ensuring easy arrival for guests with mobility needs.

To safely ride Steel Taipan, guests must be able to transfer into the coaster seat (either independently or with the help of a companion), support their head and neck unaided and maintain an upright seated position. At least one functioning arm is required to continually grasp the harness and guests must have two natural lower limbs extending past the ankle joint. Prosthetic limbs must be removed before boarding. For safety reasons, the ride is not suitable for guests who are pregnant, have high blood pressure, heart, neck or back conditions or are wearing casts or splints.

The park is wheelchair-accessible throughout, including ramped queue areas for Steel Taipan and accessible bathrooms located conveniently across the park. The ride also features a dedicated accessible entry point and Dreamworld’s friendly team members are trained to assist with boarding and transfers. Guests with limited mobility can take advantage of very reasonably priced wheelchair and mobility scooter hire. Several spacious accessible bathrooms are located across the park.

Dreamworld provides thoughtful accommodations for guests with sensory sensitivities and neurodiverse needs. Located just outside Steel Taipan is the Calming Cottage, a peaceful, low-sensory space designed to help guests decompress. With soft lighting, bubble lamps, comfortable rockers and three air-conditioned rooms, it’s a quiet oasis amidst the excitement. Sensory toolkits are available from Guest Services and the park supports the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program to help staff identify and support guests who may need additional understanding or assistance. Social scripts are available to help guests familiarise themselves with the park before arrival and navigate the park at their own pace. Guests can also access a detailed visual guide (in both full and brief formats) to plan their visit and understand what to expect.

The Park Health and Accessibility Facility, near the entrance to Steel Taipan, offers extra support for guests with medical needs or disabilities, and staff can help tailor visits for maximum comfort and enjoyment. Additional tools like social scripts, quiet areas and a dedicated team trained in accessibility awareness further enhance the experience for guests who need a little more time or support.

Dreamworld welcomes assistance animals in most areas of the park, with the exception of Tiger Island and the wildlife precincts. There are two designated grassy toileting areas for assistance animals – one located just outside the main entrance and another conveniently positioned inside the park near the entry to Steel Taipan – ensuring guests who rely on their support can enjoy a safe and inclusive visit.

Dreamworld offers QR code–accessible menus, making it easier for guests with low or no vision to explore dining options. Dreamworld’s website is equipped with a tool that allows users to customize their browsing experience based on their needs, including seizure-safe mode, vision-impaired settings, ADHD-friendly adjustments, cognitive disability support, keyboard navigation and screen reader optimization.

Families visiting Dreamworld can enjoy a state-of-the-art Parents Centre, accredited by the Australian Breastfeeding Association. This facility provides six private feeding rooms, designed with ample space for mobility aids and power points for medical equipment. The centre also includes spacious bathrooms with child-friendly mini-toilets and sinks, an accessible bathroom with a drop-down change table for wheelchair users and multiple nappy-changing stations. Parents can relax knowing they have access to a comfortable and inclusive space for their little ones. There’s also the option to hire single or double strollers or even a Burleigh Wagon.

At Dreamworld, we’re committed to making sure every guest feels welcomed, supported and included. Our team continuously updates and enhances accessibility practices, going beyond industry standards to provide a safe, inclusive and enjoyable experience for all visitors. For additional accessibility inquiries, guests can contact Guest Services in advance at reception@dreamworld.com.au.

Whether it’s a thrilling ride on the Steel Taipan, an interactive wildlife encounter or a quiet moment in the Calming Cottage, we believe every guest deserves to experience the magic of Dreamworld — in their own way, and at their own pace.
