Welcome to the World of Wizardry!
Welcome to The Store of Requirement, a one-of-a-kind destination where wizarding dreams come to life! Located in the charming town of Samford, just 30 minutes from Brisbane, our family-owned business opened its doors on 31 July 2017, aligning with both the birthday of the world’s most famous wizard Harry Potter and the 20th anniversary of the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
We “siriusly” adore all things wizard, which is why you’ll find only officially licensed treasures here. From beloved keepsakes to rare collectibles, we “weasel” as many products through our “Dumble-door” as possible, ensuring our shelves are always stocked with the most diverse range of authentic wizarding wares in Australia. Whether you’re a nostalgic fan longing to relive the magic, a dedicated collector seeking exclusive items, a family creating new memories together, or a curious newcomer just discovering the wizarding world, we have something enchanting for everyone.
As a proud small business fuelled by genuine passion, we continually search for items no one else stocks in Australia, so there’s always something fresh and exciting to discover each time you visit. If you can’t make it to Samford, fear not: check out our website for a wide range of collectables, accessories and apparel. We’ll ship the magic swiftly to your doorstep with no frustrating wait for overseas deliveries, and a $10 standard delivery fee for anywhere in Australia! Note that you will need to place orders by phone rather than through the website, and that we don’t ship overseas.
Step inside The Store of Requirement to immerse yourself in the wizarding universe. We can’t wait to share our spellbinding treasures with you. Come and experience why our customers say there’s no place quite like it, because here, the magic truly lives on.
Experience Overview
The iconic Flying Ford Anglia stands guard outside The Store of Requirement, its sky-blue paint and well-earned scratches telling stories of past escapades. It’s a thrilling introduction, evoking a surge of nostalgia for anyone familiar with the legendary adventures of Harry and his friends in this magical car.
Cross the threshold, and you’ll find yourself immersed in an atmosphere thick with wonder and anticipation. Renowned for its meticulously curated selection of officially licensed wizarding merchandise, the store’s high shelves are laden with collectibles and one-of-a-kind treasures that you won’t find anywhere else in Australia. Soft lighting and whimsical background music create a cosy, enchanting ambience – perfect for long-time fans reliving beloved memories and newcomers discovering the magic for the first time.
As you enter the store, you’ll encounter the Sorting Hat, perched on a wooden pedestal in a quiet, mysterious nook. Its tattered edges and faded fabric whisper of centuries of history, beckoning you closer. At the back of the store is the Wand Room, lined with glass cases displaying character wands once wielded by the most iconic figures in the wizarding world. Each wand seems to hum with unseen power, inviting you to imagine the spells once cast in grand wizarding tales. The soft glow of lanterns illuminates these artefacts, creating an air of reverence while allowing you to appreciate the fine details of their craftsmanship.
If you’re ready for a break or just want to soak in the wizarding atmosphere over a sweet treat, head next door to The Owlery cafe, which welcomes you with a soft hooting soundtrack, freshly brewed tea and coffee, and an array of delicious food. Here, you can treat yourself to wizard-inspired pastries, chat with fellow fans and plan your next adventure.
Speaking of adventures, don’t miss out on the Wizarding Adventure Owl Tasker – iPad-based scavenger hunts that blend digital clues with real-world exploration in Samford. As you solve riddles and follow hidden prompts, you’ll unlock destinations that bring the wizarding realm to life in unexpected ways, turning the scenic town into your own spellbinding playground. These hunts take the overall experience to another level of interactivity, particularly enticing for families and curious fans eager to delve deeper into the magic.
We’re open Wednesday to Friday from 10 AM till 3 PM, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM till 4 PM. You’ll want to spend at least one-and-a-half hours to enjoy every facet of The Store of Requirement and The Owlery, though you may find yourself wanting to linger even longer, captivated by the sense of wonder, excitement and nostalgia that pervades every nook and cranny.
Events on Offer
Prepare to embark on a series of captivating wizarding experiences that will spark your imagination, challenge your wits and immerse you in the magic of Samford Village. Each event offers its own unique twist on interactive storytelling, ensuring that there’s something for every aspiring witch and wizard.
School Supplies (1 hour)
Begin your journey as a newly accepted student at our renowned school of wizardry. Equipped with a map, a magical device and strict instructions from Headmistress Professor Dorothea Lynch, you’ll have exactly one hour to collect all the essential school supplies scattered throughout Samford Village. Each stop presents riddles, interactive tasks and clever puzzles that must be solved before you can tick off an item from your list. Ideal for younger adventurers or those feeling the effects of a befuddling charm, this quest requires teamwork, quick thinking and a touch of daring – fail to gather every item and you risk expulsion!
The Owl Tasker (1 hour)
Test your mettle in this fast-paced scavenger hunt. Stranded in Samford with no money and no way home, you must work against the clock to earn enough coins for a teleportation ticket. Armed with our special Owl Tasker app, you’ll take on magical “job” postings from wizards and witches around town, solving riddles and unlocking clues at each point of interest. Whether you’re playing solo or in a team of up to six, you’ll need strategy, puzzle-solving prowess and a dash of wizardly know-how to succeed before your one-hour window closes.
Potion Making (30 mins)
After your mad dash around the village, during school holidays you can indulge in a more measured approach to magic with our fun, interactive potion class. You’ll master the art of brewing potions using premium wizarding ingredients, each carefully chosen for maximum potency. Follow the step-by-step instructions from your wise potions master to produce a concoction said to grant truly worthy wishes – dark wizard desires are strictly prohibited! You’ll even get to take a small sample home in a keepsake vial, perfect for inspiring future magical adventures. This activity is also available as part of a birthday party package.
Spellbinding Wand Decorating (30 mins)
A fabulous, creative school holiday activity is a hands-on crafting workshop led by an apprentice wand-maker, where you’ll design and decorate your very own wand, choosing every detail to reflect your unique wizarding style. It’s the perfect opportunity to add a personal touch to your magical toolkit and leave with a memorable keepsake of your time in the wizarding realm. This activity is also available as part of a birthday party package.
Whether you’re hunting for school supplies under a tight deadline, racing to earn coins for teleportation, perfecting the subtle science of potion-making, or crafting a wand that’s truly one-of-a-kind, these four experiences promise a blend of enchantment, puzzle-solving fun and immersive storytelling sure to delight witches, wizards and Muggles alike.
