THREE BLIND MICE

Celebrating White Cane Safety Day, 15 October

Sherie’s Three Blind Mice Cake is made in the form of a dining table.

The cake is sitting on a 12-inch round cake board that is covered in fondant, coloured to represent a marble floor tile in swirls of black, white and grey. This is then coated in a clear edible lacquer. On the edge, in white lettering, are inscribed the words, “Celebrate White Cane Safety Day”, and above that, the date – 15/10 – in small, edible, white letters.

The table has four round table legs that are three inches high. In the centre of the floor board, hiding underneath the table, is a small grey mouse who has his own miniature pink-coloured teacup, teapot, slice of pink freckled cake and cheese crumbs.

The round one-inch deep chocolate cake with no filling is sitting on a 10-inch board. The cake has a wavy or flared pink fondant tablecloth overhanging by about an inch, which is covered in an edible lace with variety of leaves, vines, birds and, in a circle at the bottom, a row of roses made from white edible lace.

Cake Top Decoration

On top of the table there are three blind mice, all made from fondant.

Moving around the cake, starting at 11 o’clock you will see:

Mouse 1, at 11 o’clock, who is dark brown; he’s sitting, holding a white cane and wearing a pair of black glasses.

Mouse 2, at 1 o'clock, who is grey; he’s sitting, holding a white cane with a wide round tip and wearing a pair of black glasses.

Mouse 3, at 3 o’clock, who is white; she’s sitting down and holding a white cane but is not wearing glasses.

In front of the mice there is a cheese board that is chai-latte textured, on top of which is a round ball of Swiss cheese with a triangle shape cut out to show the inside of the Swiss cheese, representing a serving. On the cheese board are three very small pieces of cheese in front of each mouse, with some crumbs sitting next to their feet.
