  • Welcome to Tinaberries

Welcome to Tinaberries, where we love nothing more than making sweet things happen! We’ve worked hard to create a strawberry farm where fresh flavours, sweet aromas and country charm come together for a truly delightful experience. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be enchanted by beautiful gardens, shady trees and rolling green lawns, not to mention countless rows of strawberries and a macadamia orchard – the perfect place to relax and unwind.

During strawberry season, from June to October, the experience becomes even more magical as the fragrance of sun-ripened berries fills the air. If you’re lucky, you might even catch the sweet scent of homemade strawberry jam bubbling away in the kitchen! Inside the Tinaberries shop, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with the friendly team serving up mouthwatering real fruit ice cream, piled high in cones and, if you please, smothered in chocolate and topped with a freshly picked strawberry.

Tinaberries is a place where families and friends can gather, indulge and create lasting memories. Whether you’re here for the delicious flavours, the peaceful surroundings, to pick strawberries in season or simply to soak in the authentic farm atmosphere, one thing is certain: at Tinaberries, sweet things will happen!

    The Tinaberries Story

In the fertile region of Bargara, near Bundaberg, Tinaberries is the result of a lifetime of adventure, resilience and a passion for farming. Bought by Tina and Bruce McPherson over 17 years ago, the farm has been dedicated to cultivating premium strawberries for the past 15 years. Their commitment to quality and sustainability has made Tinaberries a beloved destination for both locals and visitors, offering not just delicious produce but also a welcoming and authentic farm experience.

For Tina, farming wasn’t something she was born into – it was a vocation she chose. Inspired by stories of pioneering women and the legacy of her agronomist grandfather, she developed a deep love for the land from a young age. Growing up, she spent school holidays in Central Queensland, surrounded by farming families whose stories and experiences planted the seed for her own agricultural journey.

Tina’s farming career truly began when she met and married Bruce, a New Zealand dairy farmer and former rural banker. Together, they embarked on an agricultural journey across four countries, farming in New Zealand, Uruguay, Indonesia and Australia. Each new location brought unique challenges and learning experiences, with each helping to shape their approach to sustainable farming.

Today, Tinaberries is celebrated not only for its exceptional produce but also for its immersive farm experience. Visitors come to wander through lush gardens, enjoy real-fruit ice cream and pick their own strawberry activities during strawberry season. The McPhersons’ journey – from international farmers to local favourites – highlights their passion for agriculture, their commitment to the environment and their deep connection to community.

More than Just a Farm Visit

Just a 10-minute drive from Bargara through Bundaberg’s peaceful countryside brings you to Tinaberries, one of the region’s sweetest hidden gems. During strawberry season, from June to October, the distinctive aroma of strawberries is almost palpable, as more than 100,000 strawberry plants yield their luscious, ruby-red jewels. The farm is also home to a grove of neatly planted macadamia trees, and also grows its own dragonfruit and passionfruit. And the best part? The creamy, real fruit ice cream is crafted using these farm-grown ingredients alongside other local seasonal fruits such as mango.

Visit in September, and roll up your sleeves to enjoy a “pick-your-own” experience. Searching out the perfect, plump ripe strawberries is a delight for the kids and will bring out the inner child in everyone. But Tinaberries’ velvety ice cream is available 363 days a year and has become a favourite indulgence of locals and visitors to the region alike. Each bite is a sensory treat, with its silky texture and the pure, bright zing of real, locally sourced fruit.

And you couldn’t ask for a more perfect setting to enjoy your ice cream in Queensland’s perfect climate: lush lawns dotted with picnic tables, colourful furniture, and giant lawn games like Connect Four, Jenga and tic-tac-toe. Kids and adults alike can unwind, relax and enjoy their flavoursome cones or tubs under the plentiful shade of trees, surrounded by rolling strawberry fields and manicured gardens.

Inside the rustic blue farm shed, adorned with the cheerful pink Tinaberries sign, you’ll find a counter brimming with delights: punnets of freshly picked strawberries for a picnic, bags of macadamias and sometimes vacuum-sealed bags of frozen seasonal fruits.

Don’t miss the repurposed farm shed filled with relics of farming history – from an old shearer’s stretcher to Bruce’s father's jackaroo saddle. Every corner of Tinaberries tells a story, making your visit as memorable as it is delicious.

    Accessibility

At Tinaberries, we strive to make our farm experience as welcoming and accessible as possible while maintaining the authentic charm of an operating strawberry farm.

There is no public transport access to Tinaberries, so visitors will need their own transport or to use a taxi or rideshare service. There’s accessible parking in our field carpark, located close to our farm shop. However, access requires crossing a grassy, unpaved area. Most visitors using mobility aids navigate it without issue, but for those who prefer, seating is available near the parking area.

While the farm shop is wheelchair-accessible, the farm environment is unpaved and occasionally uneven, which may be challenging for some visitors. There are also trees and shrubs with overhanging branches that might be a hazard for people with low or no vision. Given that spaces between rows of strawberries are bare earth and relatively narrow, picking strawberries from a wheelchair or while using a mobility aid might be challenging, but is certainly possible.

There is no accessible bathroom on-site. The nearest public accessible bathrooms are at Innes Park, Coral Cove and Elliott Heads.

Service dogs are welcome, but we ask visitors to call ahead so we can ensure our farm dogs are appropriately restrained. A grassy area for service dog toileting is available next to our designated “doggy playpen”, where canine friends who are not service animals need to stay while their owners are on the farm.

The farmyard garden is large, with plenty of peaceful areas away from crowds and noise for those with sensory sensitivities or who need a quiet space.

While we don't offer a large-print or online menu via QR code, our friendly team is always ready to assist by guiding you through our simple menu options and answering any questions to ensure you have a great experience.

We are continuously working toward greater inclusion while balancing this against the necessities related to a working farm. Our goal is to provide an authentic, enjoyable experience for all visitors while maintaining our commitment to sustainable strawberry production. If you have specific accessibility needs, please feel free to reach out before your visit and we will do our best to accommodate you.
